A word fitly spoken is like APPLES OF GOLD in a setting of silver – Proverbs 25v11
Today we conclude our study of the 37th Psalm by considering verse 23 “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.” The word “makes firm” means to direct. In Psalm 1v6 there is a similar statement “The Lord knows the way of the righteous”. The message is that our journey through life is under the divine guidance and control of the Lord and nothing takes Him by surprise. That is a wonderful promise for there are no coincidences for those who trust the Lord, but everything happens for a good and eternal reason as we read in Ephesians 1v11: “In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will”. If we love the Lord though we stumble from time to time, we will not fall because He is right beside us holding us up. Have you considered this blessing that the Creator of the universe keeps us from falling? You might stub your toe because the road is rough and uneven, but because God has a perfect plan you will reach your destination as we read in Romans 8v28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”.
Friends do you delight in the Lord or is your delight in “things”? When you lie in bed do you delight in thanking the Lord for your day? Do you delight in spending time with other believers? Do you delight in reading God’s Word? The fact that you are reading this devotion means the answer is yes and that is something for which I give humble thanks to the Lord. I hope these devotions will encourage you to spend even more time reading and meditating on God’s Word.
God Bless
