Apples of Gold – 4 July 2022

A word fitly spoken is like APPLES OF GOLD in a setting of silver – Proverbs 25v11

Today our devotion is Psalm 37v5 –“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: he will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun”.

How do we commit our way to the Lord? Sadly we are often hypocrites (the Greek word means play acting) and use a “throwaway” line such as “if it be your will” when we have already determined our course of action. God desires genuine followers who are serious about committing their ways to Him. Before we continue we must understand that God has our best eternal interests at heart-He also cares for us and is a God of compassion.  Friends God has a purpose for each of our lives-we can either commit our way to Him and trust Him or resist and miss out on the blessings He has planned for us. A few days ago some of us “seniors” were sharing our life experiences and how looking back we have seen how God has worked in and blessed our lives. At the time what was happening to us seemed random, confusing and even worrying, but God was working out His perfect plan as Paul tells us- “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”-Romans 8v28

Our verse promises a reward which is a good name, peace, contentment and vindication when the metaphorical “dawn” comes after the night of darkness-are we prepared to trust the Lord or are we still the “driver” of our destiny? I hope we are all committing our way to the Lord on a daily basis.

God Bless
