Apples of Gold – Week 11 of 2023

“A word fitly spoken is like APPLES OF GOLD in a setting of silver.” Proverbs 25v11

Last week we reminded ourselves of three very important activities that God is busy at work with and today we look at a further four.

“Watches over us – He will not let your foot slip – He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.” Psalm 121v3.

The Lord watches over us 24/7: even though we might not be aware of it. “He never will leave us nor forsake us.” Hebrews 13v5.

Comforts us: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles.” 2 Corinthians 1v3.

Interceding on our behalf when we sin: “Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because He always lives to intercede for them.” Hebrews 7v25.       This is a full-time job!!

Welcoming us to Heaven: “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” Matthew 25v23. Despite popular folklore it won’t be St. Peter standing guard at the Pearly Gates deciding who may enter. Christ Himself welcomes all those into Heaven who know Him as Lord and Saviour and have been faithful stewards of the talents given to them.

As I said last week God is working tirelessly for us – how busy are we for Him? Let us make sure that we are doing His work and not the work we think should be done. “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” Psalm 127v1.

Amen
